Do you have any support for your assertions? The facts I found in just one US census profile after about one minute's worth of research seem to belie your argument.

The more educated people are and the more money they make, the more they tend to vote and participate in democracy. Also, older people vote more, with the youngest voters having the least participation. So, it's the opposite of what you postulate.

census.gov

As an educator of our young, doesn't that say something about your own mediocrity? Are you just trying to justify your own inferiority? You're not getting through to them, it seems.

<edit>

If your argument holds true, either the labor movement is comprised of straight-A intellects, or they've always voted Republican and the Chicago Daley machine fixed the elections.

LOL

Not sure if I agree with anti-intellectual, but I'd say that we Americans are extremely self absorbed. I think it goes hand-in-hand with our instant gratification, causing us to not care about what happens down the road. We're only interested in stuff that affects us both directly and at this moment. Compared to others in the world, we as a people are politically apathetic.

That is, until Rush and the rest of the Hate Radio crowd turned politics into a game where people could feel better about themselves by hating others (mostly Clinton). They tapped into a mostly white male audience that feels that America is 'slipping away from them'; i.e. moving away from male Caucasian Christian dominance. They tapped in, and angered them, legitimatizing their anger, resentment, and feelings of inadequacy. Besides reaping millions for themselves (Rush has found out that lots of wives and drugs cost big bucks), they've handed a ready-made, propaganda-friendly voting bloc to the rightist leadership.

I agree with your assessment of Bush. Bush is the perfect candidate for this type of audience. Preprogrammed, the voters merely need to be fed the message. Bush's qualifications are almost nil, yet he is almost worshipped by this crowd because of his lack of ability. He is, to them, and Everyman hero who makes decisions singlemindedly. To the rest of America, and the world, he makes decisions no-mindedly.
