There may, indeed, be many reasons to make mistakes when one speaks- these can result from errors in judgment, before one opens one's mouth, and errors in the act of speaking itself, in other words, saying what one does not mean.

In this very specific case you used the very specific term "misspeaking"- as far as I can see that term was inapt. I have no idea why you are now discussing lying, I certainly am not discussing that. The only issue for me was your use of the term "misspeaking" to what the gentleman you quoted said.
