"Many of us did not have to say it when we went to school"

So what?

"why should kids now?????"

They don't have to. This is the 2nd time you have lied about it.

"What is its purpose???"

It is a tradition that teaches loyalty to the country. Teaches people to honor the country's heritage. Why so offensive to you? Just because you hate it, and seem to hate God of any type, you want to make it ILLEGAL for our kids to do it. Creepy censorship based on your hateful prejudices.

"and make it voluntary to add"

It is voluntary to say it at all. Our country was based on Godly principals. If you don't like that, then go to a country that was not. Don't change the history of ours though.

"You're probably of the opinion that prayer is forbidden in school also"

huh? Nice segue. I think that silent prayer is legal, but don't think the children are reciting structured prayer in public schools. Hopefully they can say a prayer for the safety of the players and that type of thing before a game. I am sure that you do want that illegal though. Right? Ok to pray silently while at school, or should those kids be locked up according to the JF hatred of religion and religious folks law?
