Farenheit 911 postulates it was an old boy promise Dubya made to the Saudis to ensure their continued reign that was the hidden reason for war.

Of course the other option, moving away from fossil fuels and onto alternative energy for the USA, was not on the table I guess. I'm convinced hybrid cars will take off soon and California has some new fuel cell initiatives.
