OVTI - barriers to entry?
I think there are substantial barriers to entry. OVTI's market are image sensors build using CMOS technology. CMOS is a standard technology used for many semiconductor products (Memory etc.). Traditionally, image sensors were build using CCD (charged coupled devices) which is a more expensive andf i think they also consume more power. For low cost mass market products, CMOS sensors should be cheaper. My understanding is that OVTI deploys a proprietary method/design for its sensors which may represent a substantial hurdle for competitors:

I think OVTI is an interesting story in an exlosive market (camera phones, low end digital cameras etc.0 but obviously not without risk.
