Andrew,
Its not desperation--its a feeling that the way things stack up right now, folks will vote against the incumbant and bush will go down, albeit in a close race, much like carter did as a "perceived" failed president. I think that they are being far to cautious now because they think that works better for them for the election. I believe the opposite. Like Cheney they should be willing to use the F word. Like HST, they should stop passing the buck. Truman beat Dewey in 1948 and Bush will need to duplicate that feat by being more like HST. Need some daring do and also it is a pivotal time in iraq. Its killing time over there and we should be doing our share. I want to be the guy who beheads Zarquawi on al jazeera. Mike
PS My grandson just arrived so i will switch gears and play like a 3 year old for the remainder of the day. Man, what i want more than anything is for this war to be long over before this next generation gets of age.
