iraq was a message to the mideast If you knew anything about the Middle East, you would not need to be told that the only "message" they got is a confirmation of their suspicions along the lines of "US is an enemy of Islam, a faithful slave of Israel, to be fought until death" etc.

da, Again, you don't beat up a weak nation to send a message. We should have shown some guts and pounded on SA despite our oil jones. Ghadafi has been trying to come in from the cold for more than a decade. The real President Bush and Clinton wouldn't accept his bribes to let him off the hook for his actions. I loved the speech he gave recently that he was sorry Reagan hadn't lived long enough to be hung for his war crimes against Libya. He didn't get any messages. Just found some palms to grease. The Middle East has gotten the message loud and clear: "America is to be hated as much as Israel. There used to be some semblance of even-handedness in American policy, but these folks who don't understand The Book of Revelations are as bad as the barbarian crusaders from the middle ages. You have to have nukes to survive against raw American aggression." That's not the message I would prefer them to get.
