<<that is eirily reminicsent of what people said about Reagan during the cold war. He was stuborn, and arogent, and the USA should engage the Soviet Union>>

Sort of a bad analogy....it's like saying the proper response for Reagan then would have been to invade Czechoslavakia, in order to show the Russkies what they're up against. Instead we did it the right way, just ground 'em down and outlasted 'em.

They're always has been, and always will be evil in the world. But a military response is not always the optimal way to combat it, that's why it's called "asymmetric war". It requires intelligence, propaganda, occassional pinpoint application of power against the right individuals. Essentially a guerrilla war approach, instead of the Battle of the Bulge mentality we're using now. What we did in Afghanistan was much closer to the proper approach than what we're doing in Iraq. As far as what Bubba said he would do.....he had his chances and he did nothing. As far as "what use is all this power and might we have"....the same question was raised in 'Nam, and the correct response then (as now) was to NOT use it, but to learn more about our enemy and redesign the engagement to suit OUR purposes and not theirs. The only legitimate reason to invade Iraq was if there was IMMINENT danger they were going to obtain WMD's....everything else is just an excuse.

Don't wrap Bush in the Reagan blanket. He is a third rate copy.

Read some of the stuff Ronny wrote. Bush is a self admitted non-reader. Big Big difference.

Reagan was the son of an alcoholic. Bush was an alcolholic himself.
Another big difference.
