". By ameliorating oppressive circumstances, we contribute to the liberty of individuals, insofar as they seek to improve their lot. Is this the sort of thing you have in mind? "

Not exactly. I recognize that there are and probably always will be circumstances that lend to social injustice. I will take a stand for justice as the circumstances dictate, as always. However, we are being accused of behaving in a culturally schizophrenic fashion with regards to personal rights and liberties; and what one should expect from a just society.

So, I am attempting to step out of the real world as a thought experiment. Can we come up with a definition of justice that supports does not have the conflicts inherent in our current system. This is what I came up with ... so far.

"The librae of justice contain freedom of conscience, personal liberty, and the right to be treated justly by others. There is no contradiction in terms here and there is no circumstance where one natural right needs to be trumped by any other or consequated by another; since they are not separated entities but terms that are enmeshed with one another to form a concept. When you understand this you will be able to perceive a system of natural justice for all that can be supported by societal laws which never violate any of these three components of freedom...."

The goal is to present a balanced view that incorporates both the rights and responsibilities of the one and the many and that eliminates the need to swing pendulums of entitlement.
