Would you prefer Fur Us Bud or Guinness Weasel? One of them is on ice, the other . . . Well, I recall the old cowboy who couldn't make it to the cabin door and used the only receptacle available to relieve himself after a night in the saloon. Only problem is, he forgot about it in the morning and his first wakeup swig was warm. That's the other kind. (This is a true story, by the way. I know the guy.)

Message #138067 from FaultLine hand me one of those cold ones...

You know, faultline, yours is a very useful and popular SI topic. It is very enlightening to see all the points of view on foreign affairs. Some of your participants are very well informed. It would be fun to know if any of them are insiders.

To slide back on topic a bit: For all their evil ways, the terrorists know what they are doing vis a vis foreign affairs. Fox News reported this morning that they took some TURKS hostage. Now why is that, do you suppose?

foxnews.com
CAIRO, Egypt — Supporters of Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (search) said Saturday that they have kidnapped three Turkish workers in Iraq and threatened to behead them within 72 hours, the Arab television station Al-Jazeera reported.

The report of the abduction came hours before President Bush was to arrive in Turkey for a NATO summit, which will focus on winning the alliance's help in establishing security in Iraq.

An al-Jazeera anchor said the kidnappers threatned in a statement to kill the three Turks unless Turkish companies withdraw from Iraq.

The station aired a videotaped warning from al-Zarqawi's group, Tawhid and Jihad (Monotheism and Holy War), showing the three men saying their names in Turkish and what kind of jobs they were doing in Iraq.

An al-Jazeera employee told The Associated Press the station received the tape on Saturday. The statement did not say when or where the three were abducted.

Al-Zarqawi's movement has also claimed responsibility for kidnapping and beheading American businessman Nicholas Berg (search) last month and South Korean hostage Kim Sun-il (search) last week.

What's your feeling on the three Turks being held hostage? At the coffee shop many had a feeling if those three heads roll the Turks will be doing some head rolling in return.
