Being shortlisted ("axis of evil") for probable invasion by the world's superpower can also make a country feel kind of threatened - an incentive to get nukes fast. Can't blame Iran if they are enriching uranium this very minute, especially since they saw, along with the rest of us, what happened to one country on that list that had no nukes (Iraq - invaded) and the one that had them (N. Korea - got sweettalked).

Don't know what anyone can do to prevent Iran from nukes if they really want it, since they MINE uranium on their own soil...

If I were Iran's government, I would say, "Sure, I will disclose my nuclear program - but I want Israel to do the same".
