Two planes had struck the WTC and Bush doesn't think it might be time to get to some serious communication capabilities to make certain interceptor planes are in the air to shoot down other hijacked planes; or to ground all flights; or whatever. 7 minutes

I said, "even if he knew more," John. So I am not wrong. And he is not a pole-sliding fireman. What he did was right. The Government would not have moved one inch faster if he had left immediately. That is just Moore second guessing it.

But I expected you to enjoy the movie. It was made for you.

John, I think you should take your 7 minute classroom conspiracy theory elsewhere. Don't think you're going to have much luck peddling it around here.

Do you?

JohnM,

I guess you view the Presidency as a kind of Saturday Night Live parody of the Jimmy Carter term? You know the one where Jimmy micromanages every action in every department?

I wonder how long FDR knew about the attacks before he personally directed all the actions of WW2. You can bet it was more than 7 minutes.

In general though its interesting to see the left in this country removed from reality enough to be reduced to the Godwin's Law paradox - anyone who doesn't believe as I do is Hitler (or in the case of Bush - worse than Hitler).

Apart from some really far-out rw sites - no mainstream Republicans do the same, yet Kerry and the DNC Leadership seem to be Godwinized...

And your support of this drivel is what? Reduced to finding a 7 minute gap in Norad defenses? Is our National Defense setup so that only the President can order a response?

Of course not, only the President can order a nuclear strike, but all our defense systems assume local tactical control (at Norad, Southern Command, Nato etc). This bit of warfare, was simply off the reservation and our system of responses failed. As it was can you imagine how hard it was to give the order to shoot down commercial airliners? And that was done, simply too late (given that the passengers on Flight 93 decided to take their destiny into their own hands).

John

might be time to get to some serious communication capabilities to make certain interceptor planes are in the air to shoot down other hijacked planes;

And if planes had in fact been shot down, Moore and others [you too, probably] would be throwing a fit about why such an unmeasured response was necessary.....

Nothing this Administration will ever do or has done, whether it is well or horribly performed, will escape your partisan criticism.

I am afraid it's that simple.

7 minutes. A very long time. What exactly did you want the President to do John?

Run out the door, scaring the kids and the school?

Do you think it was possible for him to wait for his team to acess the situation? After all, he didn't have Air Force One parked outside the school...

We talk glibly today about shooting the planes down before they inflicted more damage, but remember back to September 10th....In my wildest nightmares, I can't imagine that scenario. Today yes, we can imagine it.
