RU-486 must be credited with eliminating the need for abortions. yet the rightwing vigorously opposes it. Why? because what they really care about is eliminating sex except for procreation. In other words, eliminating sexual enjoyment. One reason 8 million Howard Stern listeners will voting against Bush this year. Bush a former playboy BTW who is rumored to have knocked up several girls. As Dr Drew has reported, the other reason for fewer pregnancies is the acceptability now of oral sex in high school as a substitute for intercourse. Many girls these days wont go for intercourse without a condom, or want to keep theri virginity, but will allow oral sex, hand jobs and plenty of it. That does not get anyone pregnant. Sex rates overall have not gone down much at all. Maybe some since the 70's but that was the 70's. Pregnancy rates have gone down for a variety of reasons, some of which the religious right opposes.
