No rules of war apply to Al Zharqawi.

So it is ok to torture him?

Whether terrorists are afforded POW status under Geneva Article III is a matter of debate. But there is an intent behind the Geneva documents. The idea is that prisoners should not be mistreated. And we signed it, at least. And we are the good guys, right?

The Geneva Convention only applies to the armies of countries that actually signed the document. Thats what an International Convention is. No rules of war apply to Al Zharqawi.

So then, we really don't believe in the Geneva Conventions? We just signed it because it looked good to do.

We either believe in what the Conventions say and act accordingly, or we don't. But if we don't, then we are no better than the scum who we are trying to stop.
