This is the standard reply with which Malko and others are in disagreement. In Malko's case one has to also deal with the fact that Malko is not your usual Israeli "outsmarter". Categorizing Malko that way avoids the power of his argument since it avoids the fact that he was at the center of power during the Camp David period. Moreover nothing in the article indicates that Malko's intentions are to "outsmart" Arafat.
On the contrary, one can argue that the right wing desire for a greater Israel is the reason for the propaganda that "Arafat is committed to the 'armed struggle' forever....". The map showing the totally disintegrated and unviable Palestinian state that Camp David proposed is also a piece of the puzzle which aims at a greater Israel.
