slacker, NAND prices need not rise if the manufacturing process becomes more efficient. Many people attribute falling prices to a glut when it can also (or perhaps mainly) be caused by improved productivity.

There's no doubt that new capacity will be available in the second half of the year, but there's also no data that I've seen which would show a leveling off of demand, creating a glut. On the contrary, sales of equipment using removable flash memory have been rising at record rates.

Improved productivity + higher unit sales = higher profits, even if accompanied by lower profit margins.
