When you declare that you believe in a god, you are essentially saying I am smarter than the folks who haven't reached the dubious conclusion that you have

Strong faith makes one humble enough to not judge other people.

Mocking the beliefs of others is usually Atheist territory, as you demonstrate so well.

JF - i think u overstepped a bit there. Declaring belief in God is not as condescending as you make it out to be. However, I have been in situations where I could understand where your statement originates from (such as when someone says to me, it's ok that you don't believe in God, He loves you anyways).

This is problem I have found is that while I agree with your reasoning, I honestly believe we as humans are typically happier believing in some form of higher power (ironically, likely due to the evolution of our social structure). In this way, I think religion is truly the opiate of the masses... and many would be miserable without their daily dose of faith.

"When you declare that you believe in a god, you are essentially saying I am smarter than the folks who haven't reached the dubious conclusion"

LOL. I KNEW that insecurity was at the base of your hatred. Religious people make poor JF feel insignificant.

I have stated this a few times, but its nice to see you put it in print.

"A thoughtful person, ie one who is not so malleable intellectually,"

Oh, and there is the arrogance I also have called you on. LOL again.

A thoughtful person is open minded to all views, and not prejudiced against one who has come to a different conclusion. This specific post is the most telling about you that I have ever read. Usually just your smart ass questions that don't really relate to the issue. This one is a beauty. And I had you called perfectly, if I do say so myself.
