And he is 100 per cent trustworthy. He is also a much stronger man than Bush senior," - i agree that Bush is smarter than people give him credit for, or at least more savvy (let's leave intellect out of the equation). I believe it is precisely his lack of intellect that has made his convictions so strong. Those with exeptionally strong intellects often fall victim to uncertainty and endless rationalizations. I honestly think that Bush believes he is doing the right thing (whether or not he is, in fact, correct is another matter). "President Bush has far more in common with Thatcher than his father. It is nonsense to say Bush is in the pocket of the neo-conservatives. I know the so-called neo-cons and it is all a myth. They can’t agree on anything, let alone organize themselves for a predetermined program. - Bush was obviously heavily influenced by the neo-cons on Iraq. He doesn't need to be "in their pocket" so to speak on every issue. After he committed to the war, everything else was pretty much written in stone. "Saddam Hussein was clearly an evil man. The war was necessary and a good thing. It was as plane as a nose on your face that Saddam had to go." I hate this arguement. Yes, Saddam was a bad guy. There are many bad guys out there ruling countries. I don't see how Saddam being a bad guy justifies the invasion of Iraq. "If Thatcher had still been in power when the first Gulf War took place then I am certain she would have made sure the Americans liberated not just Kuwait but also had gone onto Baghdad and removed Saddam." - Uhhh.. ok. I'm sure she would have had a foolproof plan for post-Saddam Iraq as well. Care to share? "Bush Junior has made the U.S. a far safer country – as witnessed by al-Qaida’s failure to do anything since 9/11." - This line practically ridicules itself. "He [Kerry] has a one in a million chance of success" - I'd say a bit less than 50-50 but more than one in a million. If Kerry can run as a man of strong beliefs who will unite the world instead of polarizing it, I think he stands a very good chance. I think his choice of VP will be critical here (which is why I'd prefer Clark). "Anti-Americanism Is Racism. It’s borne of jealousy and power envy. It is a form of racism. The U.S. is a microcosm of the world’s races, Hatred of the Americans is a form of self-hatred." I agree that jealosy and power envy play a large role in Anti-Americanism. We should be aware of this fact and not play into the hands of our detractors. The racism bit sounds neat, but falls flat on its face because the second part doesn't necessarily follow from the first. Maybe people hate America because it's multi-racial...
