Ralph, It is almost EXACTLY what the Brits did in the 20s and early 30s. What do they say, insanity is defined as doing things the same way over and over and expecting different results.

Pretend soldiers like Bush and Cheney don't understand that the reason men like the senior Bush and Dole were heroes who sacrificed for their country was because they were fighting a just war. And the world was at risk, including the USA.

Korea was a bit iffier. The Soviet Union has always believed that the US trapped the Communists into attacking South Korea. One of the Achesons, they all look alike <g>, drew a line around the globe and told the Soviets, if you attack these countries on our side of the line, we will fight you. He left off South Korea. My own interpretation is that our guy was stupid, but that didn't mean the Soviets had to push for an attack on anyone.

Vietnam was basically to stop the Chinese from dominating Asia. The Vietnamese, North and South, hate and hated the Chinese. China fought a war with Vietnam AFTER we pulled out. In other words, this time, we were totally ignorant.

Some wars, like the dirty little ones in the Caribbean and Central America, cannot be defended on moral grounds. They were simply imperial dominance.
