Thanks for asking me to explain. I do not want to teach or preach here and hence to avoid the risk of being accused as such, I would like to state that what I am about is say is just my personal opinion.

First off understand that a true Muslim always believes that "A Muslim does not kill another Muslim." That is tenet number 1 for a true Muslim. Let us examine this vis-a-vis Saddam and Osama.

Saddam killed many Muslims; Kurds. Kuwaitis, Shiites etc.
Osama did not kill any Muslim. Now you may say what about the Taliban whom Osama and his men patronized. To that I would say that the Taliban harmed only those people who did not strictly follow the orthodox Islamic way of life. Saddam on the other hand let his sons womanize and drink, and killed those who opposed him politically not those who violated the Islamic way of life. For if he did then his sons would have been the first one to go to the gallows.

Having said that, it is easy to see why the Iraqis hate Saddam and rejoiced his downfall. I am sure the Osama folks also rejoiced, albeit secretly, the downfall of Saddam.

Iraq is the second holiest Muslim land next to Saudi Arabia. It also has a very old culture which provides every Iraqi a unique identity disting from those of other Arab nations. The Iraqis are very proud of their culture. Osama knows about the Iraqi pride and his AQ decided to jump in and help the Iraqis to restore that pride which came under attack with the continued occupation of Iraq by the US, with the awarding of rebuilding contracts to non-Iraqi companies etc.

Which now is the segway for my point. Since Osama sent his men to fight alongside the Iraqis to get the US out of their, he will pull his folks out if and when the Iraqis tell him to. Dr. Allawi and Osama both are not very sympathetic to Saddam. Hence that is one of the things that binds them Another factor which will bind them will depend on how much of a anti-US approach Dr. Allawi adopts. If he does not appear as too closely aligned with the US, then he is OK in Osama's books.

So from here on out it will be the Iraqis and not Osama. Iraqis such as Sadr, Sistani, Allawi and possibly Chalabi (if the others rehab him because of anti-US sentiments).

<font color=red> Al Qaeda is not into grabbing and ruling countries. Their agenda is to oppose the US. That is their stated goal and their past actions have stayed close to that goal.
