Kristoff is a mixed thing for me. Occasionally, he gets off a good piece; more often I find them a bit like most of Brooks: platitudes.

As for the content of the piece, I think much of the stuff vis a vis Bush to which he (Kristoff) objects is simple minded. For instance, I have no reason to think Bush lied about the presence of wmds in Iraq before the invasion; but he has handled their absence afterward about as badly as it's possible to do so; ditto for the prison scandals; ditto for the Al Q Saddam ties; ditto for the 9-11 commission stuff; it just goes on and on and on.

They are the most arrogant crew we've ever had in the presidential quarters. They, for instance, now know that the wmd claims before the invasion are unjustified. Have they admitted that? Of course not. Is that lying? Label it what you will.
