There's no downside to her if he loses. The public gets used to seeing her running for a national office. She also gets to expiate a lot of demons in the process, something which will serve her well when she runs after the last Bush term, assuming Kerry loses.

I'm not familiar with Kerry's insecurity. But I would imagine he would want someone on the ticket who could add votes regardless of any personal issues. I think she would be a net benefit for the Dems.

Edwards? A pretty boy trial lawyer who didn't even finish his first senatorial term? Naaah, the voters would never warm up to him. Gephardt? Yaaaawn.
