The problem with Moore, apart from the obvious untruth as respects the bin Laden family flights, is that his film is taken seriously in some quarters. It is seen as the gospel truth when in fact it suffers from a huge disconnection from factual reality.

We don't increase public awareness or engage in uplifting discourse when the benchmark is garbage such as Moore is peddling. As entertainment, OK, one has to suspend disbelief when going inside a cinema's doors. But as even halfway serious politics? Gimmmeabreak, the man is a nincompoop. And therein lies the problem--he thought he was making a serious film when he started, the French have crowned him, and now there are some who think he's the bearer of political reality.

I think he's channeling Ignatius Reilly, but Ignatius was a gentle soul who would have never thought that fame and Fortuna were the equivalent of wisdom.

Hey, I gather you have a position in this conversation. Good to hear that. It's different from mine. And different from a lot of folk. That's what makes for politics.

Hey, I notice that the notion of finding any facts never appears in these declarations. Why is that, I wonder?

Could it be that political "debate", as currently practiced by Michael Moore and pals, works so much better when facts are never inquired after?
