IMO the "guarantee" makes it a defined-benefit plan.

If there really is a 'guarantee.' This one sniffs like a defined contribution plan (401k portion) that also has a profit sharing account line item that gets paid to employees each year based on a profit formula. Feels like a defined contribution plan overall and not a defined benefit plan. Can't one Intel employee just tell us the straight dope? It's not like benefits are a state secret from the public. In fact if I had the time I'd eye the financials and see if there's enough there to determine status.
