"There's no way to respond to your post."

Sure there is. Easy as eating gramma's apple pie.

ah, but the logic is different of course.

Your premise is that peace (small p) is the absence of human conflict. Which is true. However, the world we live in is fundamentally conflicted when it comes to human endeavor. The only possible course of action that meets your critique is surrender, and continue to surrender until there is only one fist pounder left. Any one who stands up to a tyrant disrupts the peace. Is that the world you want? We have seen what happens when someone seeks or is given absolute power over others and it is anything but Peace (large p).

Peace (large P) is the sense that a human being has who lives with liberty and justice. Where injustice presents itself the person with Peace (large P) stands up to oppose it and in so doing is at Peace with them selves. Live well. Have Peace. Stand up.

"It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets. - Voltaire

Voltair's logic is/was wrong. I stepped on a bug today when I went onto the porch to put food in my bird feeder. Too bad, because that bug would have made a nice meal for one of those birds. However, no bolt of lightning hit me and no group of storm troopers broke down my door to arrest me for murder.

Murder is the unjust killing of an innocent. I complained bitterly for years over our sanctions policy, both during the Bush I administration and during the clinton admin. Why? Because even though each tried to deny it, the target was innocent villagers mostly aged and very young. The targets died by the hundreds of thousands in an effort by us to create civil unrest in Iraq that would result in the over throw of Saddam. Stupidly we were putting his enemies to death. He could have cared less. It just saved him the expense and effort of gassing them.

I do not remember you complaining when clinton was lobbing bombs around... No explanation needed.

It is not murder to kill terrorists or the representatives of a brutal and evil regime in battle...

Innocent people die every day... You might die today at the hands of some stupid construction worker who drops a hammer on your head. The doctor who mistakes you for a brain surgery patient may die when you wake up too soon from the anestetic and freak out on him ... not every death is a murder... not every death of one man at the hands of another is murder.
