I believe I explained this to you the other day, and believe it or not, in some ways our views are not that far apart. Here is where we are similar. It is a damn hard question, that I am not sure is possible to answer with 100% certainty. Here is where we drift apart. I lean towards thinking there is a God. Wayne gave an answer last night that is the strongest argument for me (but not an infalable one). Seems highly unlikely that inert matter could just form into something living that is anywhere near as complicated as us. He used the analogy of a term paper writing itself. I look at it more like the most complicated and intricate thing WE can create is NO WHERE NEAR as complicated as a living breathing person. With earthly stuff at least, someone needs to design and build it. There must at least be some sort of a life force (ala Star Wars fame) that helps this process out. My belief is that there is a God, and Jesus was a messenger that came from him (although not necesarily as the bible describes it) to hone the message of God. The bible is written by people, so I do not believe that it is historically acurate in all senses. But the message (New Testament) is a great one. Even if completely false (the story of Jesus), a sound way to run a society. This is why I get pissed when people attack CHristianity so mercilessly. Oh no, somebody might become virtous. The horror, the horror. Doesn't make sense to me. Here is where we are radically different. I don't condemn people that feel one way or another. People of faith that honestly came to that position (there are many fakes like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton) have my respect. If they get in my face I ask them a tough question or two and then see if that makes me believe more or less. You really seem to condemn people who do believe. If you do not think you do, you should at least be aware that it comes across that way.
