I agree that we need to make some changes but Government health care is more than we want out Government doing. Social security is a simple Annuity and over time our government has managed to F*ck that up in a big way. Its not just a Republican thing either. Both sides have participated in mismanaging SS so the thought of them taking on Health care is frightening.

Drug prices are also out of control but I'm not sure we want price controls. Maybe a better and easier solution would be to allow people to import from Canada if they have no co-pay and don't qualify for Government aid. In the end the drug companies would still make great money and it wouldn't be costly to the Taxpayer. Furthermore it would give real help to seniors and those in need without all this discount card garbage.

I wouldn't open up the borders for drugs from all over the globe though. Now, I realize drug plants (major ones) operate in many countries and those drugs would be fine coming through Canada because the overseas plants are FDA inspected. But opening the border to say Mexico or some asian countries I would not be in favor of. The fear being fake or tainted drugs.

We have to put PC aside and admit that there are some cultural differences between the US and some of these other countries that can't be ignored. I'd feel fine if my parents got their Meds from Canada but I'd be reluctant to see them purchase from Mexico.

There are so many things we could do that wouldn't cost a lot of money but both sides of the aisle enjoy their corporate donations too much to vote in favor of the tax paying little guy.
