I can see the SS protection for his everyday life, but when he is on a world wide, or US wide private book selling arrangement, someone like the publishers, or the author himself should help split the costs. He is doing personal business after all. And it doesn't matter which political party one belongs to... several cars=police escort=hotels for everyone=food= multi-cities=telephone costs worldwide=police to stop traffic along the way, plane to get to wherever the event is= etc etc etc.....== Pretty soon, we're talking about real serious money.
