You are in disagreement with Rummy, Wolfie and the rest who have said that they are totally surprised by what has happened in Iraq, that they never anticipated this. But I suppose your "reasonable person" qualifier makes your statement technically correct. John

People have been unreasonable in their expectations. But you had predicted civil war by this time. Nobody, NOBODY thought we would have handed government over to them by this time. And frankly, while there are incidents of violence, they are just incidents. Iraq is looking pretty damned good to me. You consider the craziness in Iraq to be what should be reasonably expected? How your story has changed from shock and awe just a year ago. You were laughing your butt off at the concerns of insurgents and guerilla street fighting. Shock and awe was supposed to have taken care of all of it. As to airports being safe, I think they are a hell of a lot safer than they were. You can never get perfection. But I haven't had any discomfort in flying. The airports are not safe period. I don't care if there has been a reduction in the number of boxcutters per flight from 10 to 5. One is too many. This was supposed to be a top priority of the Bush administration. They had two years in which to implement and to date, they have failed period. And yet you post here that they are they epitome of competency and intelligence. They have control of both houses and yet task after task has been done poorly and/or is incomplete. The reality is that there is little competent about them at all. And yet you defend them.
