Z, I've noticed the same pattern back when I was attending college. The "mainstream" paper, the Cornell Daily Sun, was pretty leftist in its editorials, but it was also the primary source of campus news. The leading right-wing publication, the Cornell Review, was much more radical in their political views than the Daily Sun, but I suppose part of that was because they weren't a mainstream paper, and they knew it.

The radicalism of the Cornell Review was one of the reasons why I stayed a "moderate" throughout college, even as I started letting go of my liberal views.

By the way, Ann Coulter was one of the founding members of the Cornell College Republicans, and she also helped to launch the Cornell Review. Just thought you should know ... ;-)
