I was fine tuning the training I had; trying not to get any of my 51 Marines killed in the process, winning the hearts and minds of the man in the rice paddie who was more interested in his village than in nation building. I do not believe we should have been there unless Congress declared war on North Vietnam. I don't believe we should have been in Korea or Iraq without following the Constitutional process to put us there with the backing of a majority of the American people. For both of those paragraphs I salute you. Seriously. You must have been a fine leader. As for me, no I was not there and I was not going to go either. Not sure what I was going to do but I was not going. Fortunately I had a good lottery number and my conviction was not tested. Mish
