Tennessee Senator Al Gore, before he was vice-president, failed to carry Tennessee in the 2000 election. It went to Bush.

Democrat 981,720 47.28% Vice President Albert A. "Al" Gore, Jr.

Republican 1,061,949 51.15% Governor George W. Bush
(11 Electoral Votes)

No one wants the liberal Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy for president and no one wants the liberal Massachusetts Senator John Kerry once he is forced to define himself. Currently he's riding the anyone but Bush wave for a tie in the polls. Once Kerry opens his mouth, it's all over with. Evident by watching over the last few months anytime Kerry opens his mouth he drops in the polls.
