Everybody points to their help in The Revolutionary War, but it was King Louie that helped us - and they chopped off his head! We owe our thanks to the House of Bourbon, not these descendants of Robespierre. And their great national myth is the storming of the Bastille. What isn't widely known is the Bastille was only holding a thief, a forger, two lunatics, and the Marquis de Sade. Not exactly a major coup... Their history is steeped in butchery and built on deceit, not sure why we even take them seriously....
