They were not going out of their way to target American assets, we placed ourselves in the position of conflict.

I spent the day at the beach yesterday with a delta force guy

he is going back to Iraq [his 3rd venture there] this month for 45 days

here is what he told me:

'deck of cards' - the US is hot for #3

US intelligence is very good

hot, hot, hot, sand, and poor

the border is a sieve, radicals are pouring in

it is more dangerous for US military than before

he is shocked at how uninformed the people of Iraq are

the Iraqis refuse to get involved, a very lemming society

the Iraqis are happy we are there, cept some of the younger men who seem to be pro-radical

women are dressed head to toe in black and accompanied

the general population is very poor and have substandard living conditions and way of life

the Iraqi police, security and border patrols are the first to run in attacks and confrontations, leaving the US military to handle and control and fight
