But now with the baby boomers retiring, they say that figure has dropped to something like 75K jobs growth per month required to stay even.

When did they come out with this 75K number, under the Bush administration? This sounds bogus to me. I have always thought 150K jobs were required for sustaining the workforce.

As far as the UI claims, with long term unemployment among the white collar workforce hitting the USA for the first time, the UI system is less reliable. Most unemployeds that I know exhausted their UI years ago.
