Abdullah blasts US ahead of visit

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's Prime Minister has criticised the United States ahead of his scheduled visit to Washington, saying the invasion of Iraq 'shattered the confidence' of the world by showing that no country's sovereignty is safe from the most powerful nation.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi also said that military force had proved inadequate in destroying terrorist networks, and instead may be fuelling their growth.

His unusually blunt criticism of US policy comes less than two weeks before he is scheduled to visit Washington for talks with US President George W. Bush.

His comments were made in a speech to Malaysian diplomats on Monday and posted yesterday on his website.

'There is uneasiness worldwide that a single country is globally dominating all the military, economic, political and cultural dimensions of power,' he said, without naming any country.

Ties between Malaysia and the US are improving following the retirement last year of long-time Premier Tun Mahathir Mohamad. -- AP

IMO, Saddam does have a secret cache of WMD's. Saddam is evil, and he is clearly a fool; however not even I believe he is such an idiot as to destroy his weapons while receiving NO benefit for doing so.

I believe the location of his secret cache will be discovered after he is convicted, and he attempts to bargain for his life.

If these weapons went to Syria, the government of Syria will have to answer to the Iraqi people as to why Syria would work with such an evil man. Especially when the testimony of so many of Saddam's victims is heard at his trial.
