Carnival Strippers.

Photographs by Susan Meiselas.

Sounds interesting. Funny, I didn't remember the carnivals having "girl shows", but I just asked Mr. Croc and he says he he thinks they did have them a long time ago. Based on the cover and a few of the photos, they seem sort of bizarre -- I can't help thinking of how much the cover photo reminds me of going to the local livestock sale barn! Yikes!! I'll bet it's an interesting read. The few photos that I saw look very artsy. And there's a CD voice recording (and us just having discussed the idea of including CDs with books).

Prolly would not have made mine, had I even a glance at hers, beforehand...

Orange yaglad you saw them now, and not back then, now that you know that "everything worth photographing has already been photographed" is a crock?

I'm glad you made yours. They appeal to me much more... the motion and the story behind the fanagling you had to do to get the shots, and how that visually added to the finished product.

Some of her backstage shots that you couldn't get through that process were very good though.

Sheesh Michal! Those are incredible photos you made. The female motion in #1 and #6 contrasting each man in a state akin to deer frozen by headlights is SO riveting.
