And what results have those agricultural subsidies achieved? Despite recent higher prices for corn and soybeans, it's still almost impossible to make a living as an individual farmer in the US.

The funny thing is that if you ask the average, uninformed person what the purpose of agriculture subsidies is, most will say to make food cheaper. That is the common-sense expectation. What sort of madman would spend money to make food more expensive?
