Mindmeld, a couple of thoughts:

a) baby boomers may prefer not to retire (working is exciting, why retire?)
b) soc sec office will probably change retirement age to 75 years old (thus, push your figures out by ten years)
c) gen Y is as large as baby boomers

Regards,
Amy J

Mindmeld,

Two things:

1) projections 50 years out are inherently unreliable
2) what retiring baby boomers? The baby boom started in 1946, so the oldest are now 58. The peak year was 1956, so most are still in their 40s. How could "retiring boomers" explain slower labor force growth now?
