Interrogation doesn't require torture or humiliation. Just had a injured friend return from Iraq who was involved in the interrogation thing. A Coke on ice and a pack of smokes and those guys will give up their mothers.

Some were violent thugs who needed to be crunched to stop them attacking other prisoners. That probably doesn't explain it all. Almost certainly doesn't.

Also, I bet bribery/reward and Stockholm Syndrome is much better than beating to get information from prisoners, combined with intelligent questioning and information comparison.
