I said Moore SEES it as a microcosm. Certainly it is one type of microcosm. It is also the kind of town that's been hit worst by Bushenomics, so the imagery inn the film hits one hard. 50% unemployment baby. And has Bush ever visited there? Does he even care? Where is the compassion?

Moore's hometown is Davidson. Born and grew up there all the way through Davidson High School. Near Flint but with 50% higher income level, twice the median home value, 99.5% white.

After he dropped out of college in his first year, he lived in Flint and published a biweekly 20 page alternative newspaper subsidized by wealthy leftists.

Whoops, I forgot - he also worked for GM ONE DAY in Flint. Very important. On the basis of that one day, he can talk about the guys he knew on the shop floor for the rest of his life.
