Even Greenspan offended in this regard. While --- earlier in the nineties --- he warned about the dangers of a bubble, later he famously reversed himself, stating that 'this time it's different' (the ridiculous claim of every idiot amidst the excesses of a financial bubble, throughout history), and he 'made-up' wonderous new 'productivity numbers', almost out of whole cloth... and used these statistically 'adjusted' magical productivity 'gains' to justify the financial excesses of the bubble.
