My condolences to that mother and every other family member of the approx. 1000 service members killed in the war on terror. Do you value that life higher than the nearly 600 people murdered in Chicago last year?

Yes, I distinguish between deaths in urban America and the ones in Iraq.........most urban homicides are due to crimes of passion or negligence on the part of the victim. Having said that, no one should die prematurely because of urban violence.

However, the soldiers in Iraq are dying due to the ideology and hubris of a not-so-well-informed president. They are dying because the president and his advisors miscalculated how this war would go and then executed it poorly.

So yes, while I am disturbed by urban homicides, I am sickened by the needless dying in Iraq.

And I find pathetic your attempts to make those deaths analogous in an effort to whitewash the senselessness of this war.

I feel sorrow for every life lost and would like to see steps taken here to prevent senseless killings the same way I would like to see American military members stop getting ambushed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the other countries they're serving in.

I would like to see Americans out of Iraq asap and shortly thereafter, out of Afghanistan. We have a real war to fight and its not in either of those two countries.
