It was an intolerable situation to forbid colonial expansion on any reasonable terms, merely to hold territory for the glory of the crown...

It was French land established under the Treaty of Paris. Honoring the Treaty of Paris is unreasonable? We only expanded westward when Jefferson picked up the Louisiana purchase.

Ironically...the British went into debt defending the colonies in the French and Indian Wars which led to the American Revolution with England trying to get defense funding from the colonies ... and the French went into debt aiding the American in the Revolution which led to the French Revolution and the sale of the Louisiana purchase...all in all....helping the Americans didn't turn out well for either party.

We still have an awful lot of arable land which is unused. In fact, my family owns a little of it. I hope you don't think we must allow massive Chinese (or?) colonization to settle it.

Just making a minor point. I'm very glad we possess all the territory we do.
