Well like or not the framers had in mind that you would be able to defend yourself with firearms if the need arises just like you have a right to criticize John Kerry or George Bush and you're right to worship which planets are within what constellation. Don't think you need that self defense right? Think you are safe because of police? Think you can defend yourself for 10 to 12 long minutes if you are even able to call 911? Maybe you just haven't been a victim yet. I have yet to meet a victim of violent crime who was anti-individual firearms rights.
