One of the PNAC's principles is that of preemptive war, which is not altogether a bad thing used wisely. Would it not have been wise to have gotten rid of Hitler before his strength grew? I think history will judge that ridding the world of Saddam was another Good Thing. Thank God the Israelis engaged in a bit of preemptive warfare when they took out Saddam's nuclear ovens a few decades ago. Someone is likely to have to do the same to the Mad Mullahs' nuclear gizmos, too, and I will applaud them when it happens. The allusion to a Fourth Reich suggests jackbooted thugs looking for lebensraum, bizarre racial superiority theories, attacks on innocents, genetic euthanasia, and a crazed Fuehrer. C'mon, that is not what the neocons are about at all. The price of liberty is eternal vigilance and some vigilantes in the USA consider that their liberties under Homeland Security, Patriot Act and the like are greatly reduced since the good old days. Oh, what bunk, Mq. You don't seriously mean it when you say "greatly reduced," do you? Except for having to sometimes take off my shoes at airports, show my identification when getting onboard a plane, and having to leave the odd penknife at home when traveling, I have no difficulties with increased homeland security, and I doubt that 99.999999999% of Americans do. To say that civil liberties have been "greatly reduced" is hogwash, Mq. There are no Japanese internment camps like we had in WWII, no McCarthy's ranting about Communists under every bed, and no lynch mobs stringing up Muslims. The idea that we are somehow worse off in a civil rights context after 9/11 is unadulterated garbage.
