Gore was a very unremarkable Vice President. Cheney, on the other hand, has stood out as a strong and effective leader during Bush's term. He definitely provides something that gives the Administration extra credibility.

Edwards behaved decently during his campaign. He is charming and charismatic. I don't really know yet what else he brings to the table (hope it aint a box of cigars).

In any event it makes the contest more interesting.
