You really aren't familiar with the old anti-semitic canard that the Rothschilds (those sinister Jews) were the puppetmasters behind the thrones of the world?

I was aware of the notion that "sinister" Jews ran/run the world from behind the scenes, in general, and of the Rothschilds, in particular. What I did not know until CB pointed it out to me was that "puppetmaster" is recognized hate imagery/language associated with that notion. It's logical that it might be but I had either not seen it or had forgotten.

Use of recognized hate words is ample evidence of bigotry IMO. Thus I was persuaded that Nader's statement was anti-semitic once I found out that the language he used was in that category. I am not persuaded, however, that it is inherently bigoted to question the conformance of US policies with the aspirations of any other country. That would include Israel despite the "old anti-semitic canard." I insist that it would be PC in the worst sense and unhealthy for our country to refrain from doing so out of concern for being viewed as anti-semitic.

We have recently had a substantive change in US policy in the ME. There has been remarkably little discussion of it. The change of policy does not trouble me. I think that Sharon is on the right track and we should support him. The lack of discussion is another matter.

You need to get out more, K. ;)

If the world is full of bigots and the thin-skinned, perhaps I should stay put. <g>
