We could let Saddam dominate the Middle East, destroy Israel, and probably annihilate the Kurds and Shi'ites, but it is not the kind of world we care to live in.

He couldn't even "dominate" Iran, even with our HELP.

Panic, like hope, is not a policy.

Comparing the axis powers to Iraq is getting really old- since it is such a lame comparison.

We could have let Saddam invade tiny Kuwait and keep it. True. I don't think that would have been anything like WWII- do you? If you can cast your mind back to the long Iran-Iraq war, you will recall that Iraq was no Germany. It was even less of a Germany after we beat it up after it's attempt on Kuwait. It was EVEN less of a Germany after we bombed and inspected it for years. All in all, it was no Germany- and wasn't likely to become anything like Germany, and comparisons with Germany...well...lame, very lame- although no doubt they might be comforting if you can put out of your mind all the evidence that militates against the comparison...
