Just as I do not easily accept the claim of an individual scientist, but wait to see if it is accepted by his peers, so I am more likely to trust the information or perspective of those who are privy to intelligence and other information and experience relevant to public questions. This is especially so when there is a broad consensus that transcends partisan differences. As for the French, Germans, and Russians, they differed on the magnitude of the threat, and the means to deal with it.
